The hour to go Natural
The current period of our lives is going to help us see more natural materials become popular. From marble solid wood, linens and rattan to stones, bricks, bamboos and more, they will soon become a part of our homes. Being confined in our homes since the start of the pandemic, we have seen people crave nature. This not only helped me and many others like me to get introduced to the beauty of nature but to also take essential steps to do good for the world and the environment by staying indoors.
5 Trending Natural Materials For 2022
Mother Nature has given us endless resources. And among those many resources, there are 5 natural materials that have been the highest trending materials used today by people to enhance the interior décor goals of their homes. Let me take you on a quick tour to learn what these 5 materials are:
Bamboo
Bamboo is a fantastic renewable resource to be used for your home décor. This material is popular not only for its sustainability but also for its aesthetically pleasing and lovely neutral colour that can integrate into your home’s interior design. With bamboo being a tough material, it can be much more than just a decorative addition to your home. It can easily withstand the elements and hence, they make for a great material to build terraces, balconies and more.
Stone
The oldest construction material still remains popular today. Often associated with austerity, well-selected stones have unlimited use in interior designs. There are many interesting types of natural stone available in the market and you can find options that meet your needs and preferences. An admirer of timeless materials such as I am will definitely be fascinated with marbles. Stone finishes are characterized by high durability as well as water, heat, and damage resistance.
Another important aspect of stones is their visual effect. Various types of stone differ in colour, texture, and finishes. When polished, stones will reflect light, while a natural finish will surprise you with its unique texture. To choose stones for a particular solution, you should pay close attention to their characteristics. For places exposed to the elements, the best quality is highly recommended.
Here are some tips that I have seen work their magic and believe will help you too to get started as well:
- Stone surfaces are ideal for minimalist interiors where they can easily replace traditional floor tiles
- A properly selected stone countertop for kitchens will be more durable than a wooden one, plus add to the elegance
- If you like stones but can’t really find a place to add them it in your apartment, think about using them as the windowsill. Classic light marble or quartz will beautifully emphasize white window frames.
Jute
Jute has this amazing natural golden fibre which makes it popular for décor purposes as well as financial value. It is incredibly sustainable, affordable and eco-friendly. Jute fibres are obtained from the skin of the jute plant. It is the second-best plant-based source of the fibre after cotton. It is strong and durable with exceptional insulating properties. As eco-friendly products do not harm the environment, be it during their production, use or disposal, uses of jute in daily lives are becoming popular. The usage of jute creates gorgeously comfortable living spaces without fuss or clutter. They can be found used in various ways including curtains, lampshades, pillows and cushions, hammocks and table runners.
Recycled Glass
Recycled-glass countertops are made from the glasses that you throw in the recycling bins. They are creatively turned into unique kitchen surfaces, and more. The glass pieces are created in different sizes and colours from recycled windshields that produce clear glass, wine bottles that have green or brown glassed and dinner plates that come in various colours among others. The glasses are broken into small pieces and held together with concrete. The end result of this process is a lustrous and speckled look. It’s typically custom-made in moulds, so there’s very little wastage.
Rattan
Rattan has been around for hundreds of years and so, it’s safe to say that they are timeless but should be balanced with other tones, textures and materials. You should avoid matching furniture sets for one off-statement piece and contrast with warm-toned accessories. It makes a good investment as they are versatile and make for an effortless home décor option. Nonetheless of the colour scheme, they blend well with everything, giving the space a rustic element.
I hope that these details and simple tips have offered you a good insight into why and how you can use the top 5 trending materials of all time.
